Edible Wallpapers

Cupcakes (green)

Inspired by the brush tutorials that Delphine has published on her ever delightful blog, I have whiled away a few air travel hours drawing three edible wallpapers* to be used as a background on your computer desktop**.

(Please note that these backgrounds are for personal use only and not for republishing. If you wish to use them on your website, myspace page, etc., please contact me for permission.)

After the jump, you'll find the cupcake wallpaper, the croissant wallpaper, and the religieuse wallpaper. Each of them comes in three shades, so you have nine to choose from. Enjoy!

* The term "edible" is not to be taken literally. Do not attempt to eat.

** To use these wallpapers on your computer, right-click on the image of your choice and choose "Set As Desktop Background" (or "Use Image as Desktop Picture" in Safari, or "Set as Background" in Internet Explorer).

If the image then appears stretched across your desktop background (eww), you will have to go to your preference screen (on a Mac: System Preferences > Desktop & Screen Saver > Desktop; on Windows: Control Panel > Display > Desktop) and choose Tile as the display mode of your background image.

Never miss a recipe!

Whaoo! I'm very impressed! It's beautiful! You will have to tell me exactly how you did it...

Welcome home, sis! :-)

Aw, shucks. Here I was envisioning some sort of food-based home decor. Any ideas for that? Decorated rice-wafer, perhaps...

Although, much as I adore edible dishes and similar novelties, actual wallpaper might be a bit much...

i love anything related to food, specially if its in my computer!!!

How funny!!! At first I thought it would be wallpaper that you lick...

YUCK!!!!

Sorry, it must be all this sun we're not used to in these parts of France!!!!

Lickable wallpaper? Shades of Wonka!

Posted by Luprand on May 11, 2008 1:31 PM

Oh no...Those look too delicious. Makes me want to stare at my wallpaper instead of getting work done. Then, once I've made up my mind to get work done, I'll probably head straight to the kitchen to work instead!

This is so sweet! I'd love a pajama printed in the pink cupcakes, to help me make sweet dreams of course!

They're gorgeous, Clotilde. I'd love wallpaper like that in my kitchen, or as splashback tiles. I was very tempted to lick the screen of my computer for a second there, but I think all I'd get to taste is dust!
Great way to spend all that sitting-waiting-in-airports-time.

How Wonderful! The perfect wallpaper for my computer, altho' I will have to wait until my 15 year old gets home from school and can install it for me :(

Your site gave the devil in my heart big power. The devil said to me. "Eat this thing which I was sweet, and seemed to be delicious" As a result, I lost a fight with the devil. I was dieting so... (T_T)

Hi Clotilde,
These look great! I was so sad that I couldn't see you in Los Angeles...it was my last day of college:( Anyway, I hope you had some of our real cupcakes while you were here! There is a cupcake place on every corner in this crazy town!

My first thought was of Wonka's lickable wallpaper, too (snozzberries, anyone?). Very nice!

Posted by ss on May 15, 2008 5:15 PM

Merci Clotilde!
Day by day, the house is becoming more 'Frenchified', I guess the laptop is next.

Posted by jill on May 15, 2008 6:36 PM

oh man, i saw the title and was think of charlie and the chocolate factory-style lickable wallpaper. so although they're very cute (and in the back of my mind i know they would not actually be edible) i still feel a little let down.

Posted by michelle @ TNS on May 15, 2008 8:58 PM

Oh, now just to make them scratch and sniff. Dream dream dream!

Posted by Chou on May 15, 2008 9:21 PM

Unfortunately, work got in the way of me coming to see you in San Fran. Hope you enjoyed your time!
Can't wait to get ahold of your new book!

Weird!! I was thinking it was home wall paper! These snooz berries taste like snooz berries! haha

Salut Clotilde!

Hi Clotilde.I must admit that I too was tempted by the title.I immediately had a craving for sweet, sweet desserts.Good thing there were no cupcakes in the house! :)

Hi, Clotilde!

I'm an American student studying in Paris this year (I arrived yesterday), and already I'm going crazy with your blog. Thanks so much for all the entries you've posted... I'm already making lists of all the places I want to go.

Anyway, the main reason I'm writing to you is because there actually is edible wallpaper. A fun recipe is in Roald Dahl's cookbook. It isn't too terrible, either!

Posted by Sarita on August 27, 2008 3:27 AM

would I be allowed to use this as my background on a site like myspace or twitter?

Posted by spk on January 30, 2009 2:05 AM

Spk - Thank you very much for asking. I offer these backgrounds for personal use only, and not for republishing, but please contact me directly and we can discuss it.
