September 2009 Desktop Calendar

At the beginning of every month in 2009, I am offering C&Z readers a new desktop calendar, i.e. a wallpaper to apply on the desktop of your computer, with a food-related picture and a calendar of the current month.
Our desktop calendar for September is a picture of Mussels Marinière, a preparation of mussels cooked here with Champagne and a pinch of saffron -- though the recipe can absolutely be made more budget-friendly, with a simple white wine. With or without the deluxe ingredients, it is a lovely dish, light and warming both, to ease you into the fall.
Instructions to get your calendar are below.
Here's how it works:
1- This link will open a new window (or tab) displaying the right wallpaper image for your screen.
2- Right-click (or ctrl-click for some Mac users) on the image, and chose the option that says, "Set as Desktop Background", "Use as Desktop Picture," or something to that effect -- the exact wording will depend on the browser you use.
3- If the image does not fit your desktop background neatly, you may have to go to your preference screen (on a Mac: System Preferences > Desktop & Screen Saver > Desktop; on Windows: Control Panel > Display > Desktop) and choose "Fit to screen" as the display mode of your background image.
4- Enjoy, and see you in October for the next calendar!
[Note: Readers of this blog live all around the globe, and I am unable to provide localized versions of the desktop calendar at this point. This is why I opted for the international standard, by which a large majority of countries abide, stating that Monday is the first day of the week.]

I don't like mussels much but my French family does so these look like I could actually enjoy them with all the goodies you've added. Sure beats the 'throw in some white wine and garlic and proceed to eat' which is how my husband makes them. Thanks for saving me from another bland mussel dinner. Cynthia in Chambery
Posted by Cynthia in the French Alps on September 1, 2009 11:28 AMI wish I could smell them!

Posted by Sunny P on September 1, 2009 3:45 PMThanks so much for these calendars! They really are great, but I definitely spend more time at work drooling over these meals than I should!
Posted by Sue from Cucina DiBella on September 1, 2009 4:34 PMBravo!!!
Posted by Manu on September 1, 2009 5:26 PMThis is such an appropriate picture when, a few days from now, the world biggest consumption of moules marinières is going to be perpetrated at the now famous "braderie de Lille", a most colourful yearly animation of this cheerful if not sunny city of northern France!
Thanks for the "clin d'oeil" Clotilde, and please go on surprising us o so nicely with your blog!
Thank you so much for these lovely photographs -- and for the calendars! Visitors to my office simply drooled over the raspberry-rose cupcakes last month, and I eagerly await their response to the mussels! Even more, I can't wait to see what you will do for October, my birthday month.
Your blog is enchanting - even to someone who is allergic to garlic, like me (at home, I just substitute shallots wherever the recipe calls for garlic). I used "Edible Adventures" when I was in Paris last summer and have since given copies to two Paris-loving friends as well.
I hope you go on loving what you do so much!
Posted by Sue TR from Chapel Hill NC on September 1, 2009 6:23 PMLovely! Thanks for sharing the picture, but most of all for sharing the recipe!
Posted by Chiara on September 1, 2009 7:03 PMBeautiful calendar image. The mussels are a great dish to transition into Fall!

Posted by MollyCookie on September 1, 2009 8:58 PMAwesome I get so bored of my desktop quickly and I'm always changing it, at least now I have a reason to change it often!
Posted by The Foodster on September 3, 2009 6:42 AMI've used your calendar as "fonds d'écran" since the very beginning and, while I particularly enjoyed May, I really love this one!
Posted by Lamaison on September 3, 2009 8:03 AMClotilde --
I just bought your 'Edible Adventures' from Amazon for a trip to Paris in a week. Any recommendations for a must eat restaurant?
Posted by Andrew on September 3, 2009 5:10 PMThat's what I'm missing in my life. I have had way too little seafood this summer.
Right, gotta get serious about this. Summer is almost over.
Posted by Passport Foodie on September 4, 2009 2:04 PMThank you for posting these calendars! My desktop is so much more scrumptious...
