December 2009 Desktop Calendar

December '09 Desktop Calendar

At the beginning of every month in 2009, I am offering C&Z readers a new desktop calendar, i.e. a wallpaper to apply on the desktop of your computer, with a food-related picture and a calendar of the current month.

Our desktop calendar for December is a picture of a freshly popped cork, in anticipation of the holiday celebrations that will keep us all busy this month. I hope you embrace the spirit of the season, enjoy the company of your family and friends, and remember to keep things simple!

Instructions to get your calendar are below.

Here's how it works:

1- This link will open a new window (or tab) displaying the right wallpaper image for your screen.

2- Right-click (or ctrl-click for some Mac users) on the image, and chose the option that says, "Set as Desktop Background", "Use as Desktop Picture," or something to that effect -- the exact wording will depend on the browser you use.

3- If the image does not fit your desktop background neatly, you may have to go to your preference screen (on a Mac: System Preferences > Desktop & Screen Saver > Desktop; on Windows: Control Panel > Display > Desktop) and choose "Fit to screen" as the display mode of your background image.

4- Enjoy!

[Note: Readers of this blog live all around the globe, and I am unable to provide localized versions of the desktop calendar at this point. This is why I opted for the international standard, by which a large majority of countries abide, and which states that Monday is the first day of the week.]

Never miss a recipe!

I've been a reader of your site since Smitten Kitchen directed me here for help with conversions. I've very much enjoyed your observations. Since that delicious soft-boiled egg in February, I have religiously updated my desktop calendar each month. I do hope you continue to provide these in 2010. Whether you do or not, let me take this opportunity to thank you for your monthly gifts this year, to wish you well for the season and to hope for you a prosperous and happy new year.

What a lovely end to the year, thank you! I'm expecting a stressful December but this will remind me of the festive spirit of the season. Happy holidays.

I, too, have loved these desktop calendars. I haven't used them absolutely every month, but more often than not.

Thank you.

I've been loving the gorgeous calendars as the months go by, and I wonder if you'd release the photos so that they can be used at any time of year? They are just so beautiful, it makes me sad when they become obsolete after only a month.

Thank you so much for this! I look forward to your calendars every month :]

I am curious why Sunday is listed as the last day of the week when it is the first day? Traditional calendars go from Sunday - Saturday

Looking forward to meet you at NY book signing.

Just wrote about it after getting a message from Aimee.

Sadly, my firm's network security will not allow us to download wallpapers. But I still enjoy seeing these on your site each month! Sorry I will miss you in NY for the booksigning; I will be visiting NYC at the end of this month. Have a great trip!

What a lovely photo and what a lovely coincidence. The colors match perfectly my this year's Christmas decoration theme so instead of having a shut and dark monitor sitting in my living room I will have the computer on to show the picture and will match it with festive music. Thank you for the pic! Wonderful blog too :).
