The Bun and the Oven
Maxence and I are extraordinarily happy to announce that we are now the proud parents of a little boy named Milan, born in Paris a week ago.
Everything went smoothly, the three of us are doing splendidly, and so far Milan is proving to be a very sweet, easy baby: a good sleeper, a good eater, and an all-around adorable little person if you ask us.
Still, things will likely be a bit more quiet around here as we get the rest we need, adjust to this new chapter of our lives, and I learn to type with just one hand.
In the meantime, be well, eat well, and I'll talk to you soon!

Welcome to the world! We've always been fans of your mother's blog, we own all her books, and we've been to several of her 'events'. I hope you'll be like my last 'bun', 18 next month, Bac next month, born in Australia but raised in France, always an enthusiastic eater whose first word was 'food', grew up in the kitchens in several countries and can say this fluently in multiple languages: 'i'm hungry, what's for dinner?' Less polite, despite stereotypes, in French: ' j'ai faim, on mange quand?'

I wondered why you'd gone quiet! Many, many congratulations, and the warmest of welcomes to young Milan! Don't even think about blogging for at least the next six weeks, other than the occasional place-holder - you need to spend this time getting to know him and learning how to be his mother. It gets better and better all the time, especially when he becomes interactive!

I just came to your site for a recipe my husband and I have loved ever since we ate it – Chicken and Radish Salad with Avocado Green Goddess Dressing. I was new to cooking and I had never used anchovies before but I bravely pressed forth and we both were astounded at how perfectly those two tiny fish could impart such a beautiful flavor for the salad. I never commented on the recipe but here I am, commenting (and thanking you!) now.

I lived in Paris for two years and I miss it/will miss it for the rest of my life...When I read your articles, I reminisce my times there. I will definitely try several of your recipes, they look and sound delicious.

Big Congratulations Enormous joy & adjustments to your life.Best of luck in you new parental role.A quick very nutritious recipe for a day when you need feeding well & fast
Red lentil & sweet potato soup
1 onion- chopped & sauteed in olive oil
These are delicious additions for when you are not feeding. I suggest you keep it really simple at first. (cumin, coriander,ginger,garlic,cardamon seeds)
Add chopped red sweet potato approx 750gm
3/4 Cup washed red lentils
salt & pepper
Cover well with water. I add Massel chicken stock powder & less salt or vegetable stock
Bring to the boil. Turn down to simmer 30mins
Use a stick blender to briefly puree or use a potato masher directly in the pot. Its quite nice to have some texture. I used it 30 yrs ago for my 1st child!

Dear Clotilde, so sorry to be so late with my congratulations. Having two small kids in the house (and third in the "oven"), I am very bad in checking even my favourite blogs for updates regularly. I only heard about the baby from David during out recent trip to Israel.
