The French Market Cookbook at $1.99!

My most recent cookbook, The French Market Cookbook, is currently on sale in its digital version at the incredible price of $1.99 until October 30! (North American readers only; see note below.)

The French Market Cookbook is a recipe book that celebrates the love story between French cuisine and vegetables, and the many colorful and ingenious ways we cook with the seasons in France.

I have poured my heart, soul, and favorite recipes into it, and have done extensive research to bring to you little-known regional market-driven dishes, such as the poor man’s bouillabaisse, the winter squash bastelles from Corsica, and the pascadous, which will become your new favorite way to cook assorted greens.

The book first came out a couple of years ago, and I have been immensely gratified by the feedback I continue to receive daily from readers, on social media and offline.

All the recipes are vegetarian, many of them are vegan or veganizable, and I have also prepared an index of recipes containing possible allergens so you can assess if the book is for you; just email me and I will send this index (a spreadsheet of recipe names and associated allergens) to you at no cost.

14 Years of C&Z: 14 Lessons for Blogging and Life

Hey, you know what I did fourteen years ago, like, to the day? I went ahead and created a blog! About food! And I called it, wait for it, Chocolate & Zucchini. Because it had a nice ring to it, and I liked chocolate, and I liked zucchini (and fortunately still do).

It has been an utterly amazing fourteen-year ride, and most of my life’s blessings have come directly or indirectly from that single decision.

Where and who would I be if I hadn’t created C&Z? It’s anyone’s guess and it makes me a little dizzy just thinking about it, but I can’t imagine possibly finding a more fulfilling, happier life path. (It’s a good feeling.)

First, I want to thank you, whether you’ve been reading for fourteen seconds, fourteen weeks, or fourteen years. None of this would make sense, or even be possible, if it wasn’t for your interest and your readership.

I have done a lot of learning, thinking, and growing over the past fourteen years, and I want to pass on these fourteen lessons for blogging and life. I hope some of these resonate with you. I’ll look forward to hearing your thoughts if they do!

I Heart My Web Designer

Running a website like Chocolate & Zucchini isn’t a fire-and-forget operation: ever since I did my big redesign (and major switch to the WordPress blogging platform) a couple of years ago, I’ve kept busy behind the scenes, tweaking things and adding features to improve your experience and the site’s performance.

I’m not doing this alone, fortunately: I am lucky enough to work with the amazing cre8d design agency for my site design and development. Cre8d is a brother-and-sister team (which I think is super sweet): Rachel Cunliffe handles the creative side, while Stephen Merriman takes care of the technical implementation. And I can’t speak too highly of them. Their professionalism, their informed advice, their fresh outlook, their responsiveness: it just feels amazing to have them on my side.

I thought I would offer this review of cre8d because I know many of you have a blog of your own, and it’s often in the wee months of the year that we feel an irresistible itch to change things up, whether it’s a mega overhaul or just a fresh coat of paint.
