Actually, that's very much in character for him AND I've always heard that Beirut was a very modern, cosmopolitan city so perhaps there are comparisons to our pluses and our minuses.

I'm hoping the best for everyone in that part of the world.

Good golly! I’d read Bourdain was going to include Beirut on another culinary world tour but didn’t know when. Have to say I have a much better impression of him after reading the offthebroiler and Salon articles than the one in the NY Post. Guy’s almost a diplomat. Well, almost but he’s got so much respect and compassion, even humility. Who’da thunk it?
