I need suggestions for a gift to send our family friend .....who has allowed my daughter to live in her basement apt in Paris rent free for the last 2 months (she & her husband live upstairs in same building)....she is French, middle aged.....I would like to surprize her with something....she has consistently refused rent or anything else from us..... _________________ Make me half the person my dog thinks I am. |

| Most people I know here have DVD players that read all three types of DVD's...I do, and they are easy to purchase, everywhere...So if you verify this with your daughter's hosts, that should clear that right up! |

| I second the suggestion of books. English books are easier to come by in Paris than anywhere else in France, but still they're on the pricey side and the selection is necessarily limited so if you have a reasonable idea of her literary tastes, a novel or two will probably be a nice treat. |

| For some reason I'm thinking of lovely candles that smell of Christmas spices and a box of the best cookies.... That would make me very happy anyway. And perhaps a coffee table book full of glossy photos of your part of the world ? |
