Dearest Erin, the photo of Mstislav Rostropovich playing Bach as the Berlin Wall came down! The image is breathing...

Madame,

You play! Learning the cello is one of the things I plan to do before I die. I knew I liked you.

Actually, I walked down the aisle to Bach's Cello suite #1 Prelude in G, and back down again to the Gigue. The others entered to Kontratanz by Beethoven. I wanted music that really tugged at my heart instead of the same March or Canon that everyone plays.

Rostropovich playing as the wall came down was one of the most beautiful influences of my life.

Madame could play the cello, though, Erin. All she needs is a few extra hours in each day to do all the things she wants and loves to do.

Hi Erin,

I didn't have a spare second to respond the day you posted this, but I cried all the way home listening to his music. He was just brilliant!

I am planning to play the violin - at some point in my life. So - you get a cello, I'll get a violin and Madame can play whatever it is that makes her heart sing - and we'll have a trio! A little chamber music!

All I can say is "Rostropovich est mort! Vive Rostropovich!" I am still grieving...

Judy, you're hilarious. Normally that would be my m.o., but not this time. I got it from "Arrested Development", the best show not on television. It was just too clever for television.

Oh and, smack as a descriptive is on my list of favorite words.

golly...Donna, Erin, et moi!...now let me see...over the lifetime (to date that is!) my heart has sung to drums, piano, violin, bagpipes, guitar!!!! boy oh boy can I air guitar...Keith Richards could learn a thing or two from me Wink

We've come back from a rather long drive home...we take turns in driving every two hours...a mixed stack of cds...Hot August Night..such a lot of air drumming with that one...not while driving of course..
