Hi all, just wanted to let you know that I'm leaving for Guatemala on Sunday (father's day -- Christopher is just tickled!) to pick up Noemi. I'll be posting the occasional update and pics on my blog, swirlingnotions.com, over the next week if you want to join us! I can't wait!
PS -- I got C a Laguiole wine opener engraved with June 17, 2007 for his first father's day . . . for all the toasts yet to come! _________________ "One does not discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time." ~ Andre Gide

Happy Father's Day, indeed! The wine opener is perfect.
Safe journey to you and your daughter. My heart is full for all of you and the life you are beginning together. Congratulations again.

What a wonderful way to spend Fathers' Day! I know it will be a memory for a lifetime. And there will be many more to come. _________________ God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny. -- Garrison Keillor |

How wonderful to "become" Parents on fathers day. It is a day for you to remember forever.
Congratulations. We shall "wet the baby's head" tonight with a bottle of champers and native hibiscus flowers (so pretty they open up with the champagne bubbles and the flavour is a mix of strawberry/raspberry/rhubarb).
Have shed a little tear or two at your good fortune and send lots of good wishes for you as a new family. _________________ If you cannot feel your arteries hardening, eat more cheese. If you can, drink more red wine. Diet is just "die" with a "t" on the end. Exercise is walking into the kitchen. |

| The mention of hibiscus & bubbles reminded me that "Noe" (the baby's nickname) seems to mean mist or misty, as a Hawaiian word. I'm curious to know about her full name name, Noeme--when I looked it up it seems to have more than one derivation. But it is unusual and pretty! |

Tons of congratulations to Lia and Christopher!
As for the etymology of the beautiful name Neomi:
It is a biblical ( Old Testament) name, and in Hebrew it means PLEASANT.
Boys are named Noam , from the same root .
Neomi emmigrated from Canaan to Moav with her husband Elimelech ( economical resons) and her two sons. Eventually she returned with one of her daughters in Law, Ruth. Ruth married another man in Canaan, Boaz, and (king) David is their descendent. Great and noble genealogy.
For more infornation there are some Google sites about Neomi in the Bible
No more war, more beautiful and happy babies like Noe |

Gingerpale, you have it in one. Scrumptious is a perfect description. That smile is gorgeous.
Enjoy every moment of your new bliss.
What a lucky little girl to have parents who love her so much that they would go through all the months of work to get her.
Send a big sniff of that wonderful baby smell this way please. I reckon they could bottle it and would need no marketing to be a best seller. _________________ If you cannot feel your arteries hardening, eat more cheese. If you can, drink more red wine.
