I was very sad to miss out on this outing. I don't seem to be having much luck meeting up with C&Zers right now.....Alas, I will remain like Kaiser Soese.
And then poof- he's gone.....
I should know where we are going in a month! _________________ "It's watery....and yet there's a smack of ham."

Well, I can only hope you can always retain your mystery and make your getaway! ...but have those meetings first. _________________ God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny. -- Garrison Keillor |

Well let's keep in touch then sweetbabyjames. I'm thinking of going to Provincetown for 3 or 4 nights during the week sometime in February just to curl up and be dramatically melancholic, then head to Boston for a weekend of history and gluttony! _________________ Vivant Linguae Mortuae!! |

Uh oh. (that was my 1st thought)
Second thoughts:
Is it possible to be melancholy in Provincetown?
I understand gluttony*, but by "history", do you mean to make it, or just look at it?
*often! |

| Best part about Boston in February - walking for blocks & blocks (because that's what you do there), until your thighs are chapped & red from the cold, then ducking into a cafe (in the North End?) to warm up with hot cappucino & cookies. Mmmm...warm. |

Great to see the photos of Judy, Swan and David...and Greg. What a nice looking bunch of people. Jude you don't look as if you've just slept in the park. _________________ Barbara |

Oh I figure a gray, gloomy windy rainy day walking along a windswept beach bundled up and reliving some good memories will make for a perfect bit of melancholia!
As for making history in Boston(lol) well, I might do that in the future but this will actually be my first trip to Boston and I will be happy to delve into the history already made!
sweetbabyjames---I love any city where walking is the best way to travel! So Boston sounds just right. That is why I love Paris so much, and could learn to love NYC! _________________ Vivant Linguae Mortuae!! |

David, I think Provincetown in winter would be wonderful.
The weekend we spent with our friend, just after we had lunch with you and Swan, was fantastic. It was at the end of summer and a bit crowded - I can only imagine how busy it must get in the middle of summer. We had a great meal at Napi's, and discovered the Portuguese bakery almost as we were leaving, so had to stop there for pastries - yum! I loved walking around trying to spot the little plaques on the houses that had been floated across the bay ..... hmmm, when was it - a long time ago. _________________ Doing what you like is freedom
