Just wondering about how to properly post a link. I know you use the URL button, but do you click that before or after you paste the link? it never seems to look right when I do it.

comet, to turn the URL into a hyperlink, highlight the URL and then hit the URL button at the far right of the formatting buttons.
Like this
http://chocolateandzucchini.com


To post a link that is embedded in the text, cut and paste the link, eg

http://chocolateandzucchini dot com Then put the symbols [url= in front of the http, ] at the end of the URL, write something like Clotilde's fabulous Chocolate and Zucchini blog then finish with [/url]

Clotilde's fabulous Chocolate and Zucchini blog

comet, try cutting and pasting this line of text, but remove the & symbol wherever you see it ...

There are a total of 3 & symbols.

I spend half my life looking at html and php code 'cos I run a few websites, so I've learnt a couple of things along the way.

Comet - You had the code exactly right in your last post, but on the editing screen, you must have the box "Disable HTML in this post" checked for some reason. Uncheck it, and you're good to go!

This is very frustrating. I really can't do it. has it got to do with the BBcode too?

Comet - I checked your profile (which you can access by clicking the link "Profile" at the top of any forum page) and your two options "Always allow html" and "Always allow BBCode" were set to "No," which explains your difficulties (no idea why they were set to no, though).

I was able to set them to yes, and I invite you to try posting a link again -- you had got it just about right in the "I won!" topic, except you had omitted the opening "http://" (a web link doesn't work without that) -- I've corrected it for you.
