I found a recipe that calls for Szechwan paste. I've searched the Asian food markets to no avail. Does anyone know if it goes by another name? _________________ Life is too short to drink cheap wine. |

Hi JustMe. Did some checking around and it is also known as Ming Tsai. It may also be marketed as Szechuan Chile Paste under the Knorr brand label. Other sources call it Chili Bean Paste.
sounds like you are planning something I would kill to eat! _________________ Vivant Linguae Mortuae!! |

Thanks ever so much, David. There were a few pastes to choose from but I couldn't figure out which one it was & I figured that they would all taste very different.
The recipe is for Kelsey's Balsamic Chicken which is the absolutely best dish at any Kelsey's restaurant. Who woulda thunk?

| David, are you sure that you're not confusing the product with Chef Ming Tsai, who has a line of ready-made Asian and East/West condiments? |

Hmmm, Dawna---that may well be the case. I just did a search for Szechuan Paste and this Ming Tsai popped up. I never gave it a thought that it might be a brand name, just presumed it was the Szechuan name for it! _________________ Vivant Linguae Mortuae!! |
