Why spend a month's income on a wedding cake?

Original and something that will be remembered for a long time by the guests.... I like it! _________________ If you cannot feel your arteries hardening, eat more cheese. If you can, drink more red wine. Diet is just "die" with a "t" on the end. Exercise is walking into the kitchen. |

Funny,...but not all that far removed from reality. At my sister's wedding last Oct,they decided to forgo the expensive (and usally tasteless) wedding cake for a couple of dozen doughnuts from their favorite bakery....actually they were quite good, and a lot less hassle!!! I have seldom had cake as good as these doughnuts _________________ I would like a gin martini, straight up, olives on the side, as dry as my wit, as clean as my conscience.

I dunno whose wedding I just picked it up out on the internets. As for what it is it's junk food snacks from an American food/tobacco giant. _________________ God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny. -- Garrison Keillor |

Must say I was quite impressed with action-figurish bride & groom on top. Very cool!
I don't think wedding cakes are considered a must over here. But I'll keep my eyes open for a junk-food dessert buffet. |

Fun idea!
I was way picky about my cake, sadly not the baker, total freak. Two days before the wedding I took her the payment and she told me a story about a November wedding she did that was canceled because of a freak snow storm. Some people should not be let out of the kitchen. _________________ "It's watery....and yet there's a smack of ham."

....and then there's the cupcake wedding cake thingy which I think is kind of nifty! Though not as decadent and colourful as Rainey's happy little discovery! _________________ Vivant Linguae Mortuae!! |

Actually, this was turned up by someone writing about the trend of cupcake wedding cakes.
Personally, I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to some things. But, if one of our kids were getting married, I'd think long and hard before spending a king's ransom on something that many don't even bother with at the end of a long wedding/reception. The cupcake thing, attractively arranged, seems like a fine alternative to me and allows for considerable flexibility if allergies/preferences were an issue for some guests. ...not so sure we'd do Twinkies tho. _________________ God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny. -- Garrison Keillor |
