Swedish artists Ingrid Falk & Gustavo Aguerre have a whole different way of regarding a breakfast staple. http://www.fa-art.pp.se/Baires.htm _________________ God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny. -- Garrison Keillor |

TOO FUNNY!!!!!!!! Both of them! I loved the toaster! And the toastmaker would be a lovely gift for some of my lapsed Catholic friends! Go BVM! _________________ L'appetit vient en mangeant. -Rabelais |

Erin, that's hysterical! ...but then so is so much that inspired it. _________________ God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny. -- Garrison Keillor |

Do you wonder what it smells like? I, for one, have to immediately "gift" burnt toast outside to the birdies and still find that my kitchen smells like it for a good while after.
I also wonder how many little kids go up to it and scratch it or even take a quick lick. Reminds me of when Galen, who was fully 20 at the time was asked not to "look" at a painting so closely. It was an elaborate and seamless Flemish floral and fruit arrangement and we were both inspecting to see if we could spot a single brushstroke when, lo, a security guard decided we were entirely too interested in it. _________________ God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny. -- Garrison Keillor |

I was wondering how many times they set of their smoke alarm when they were making the burnt ones. _________________ Doing what you like is freedom

ah, this life! we humans...funny bunch! imagination plus
simply loved both posts....we see what we want to see..we make our own reality...one's apple is another's roast beef as it were...
as to the getting too close to famous paintings...my eyes were as magnets with van Gogh's stars ~ they wanted to interact

There's an artist in New Zealand who makes pieces out of toast, and has been doing it for awhile. He has done portraits of Elvis, Peter Jackson, Dame Edna and more.
Some of them are displayed at Island Bay New World, a supermarket he owns in Wellington...

Lovely, giselle. Who knew the kind of opportunity we were tossing away when we just applied jam and ate?
I particularly like his geometrics or abstracts or primitive designs. I don't know quite how to identify them but they're very vibrant and textural. In fact, I prefer them to the toaster, myself. _________________ God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny. -- Garrison Keillor |

Well, I wonder, a toasted Holy Mary? I find the idea tasteless, and I'm definitely not a religious person, ( anyhow, I'm jewish). I just don't see the humor, and it doesn't make me laugh. And I also don't see the "art". Sorry, I like my toast just simply toasted. Let Mary, Moses, Muhammad etc rest in peace ( and not on a piece of toast).
No more war, more common sense! |

Thank you for being so sensitive Erin, but it was not about being offended, especialy as I know nobody had even a remote intention of offending. I really think it's tasteless, but if others are enjoying it, it's OK with me.
Thank you anyhow.

Madame- I hadn't heard of the Australian apparition. What, exactly, is it? I didn't find the article too clear. The toast, OTOH, is clearly an apparition of Greta Garbo. Then, we must not forget the Jeff Daniels tortilla: http://www.jesustortilla.com/
Simona- I'm so sorry if you find this offensive, but, honestly, don't you just have to laugh at people to stay sane? I do. Personally, I find it a lot healthier mentally to these things have their audience so people can draw their own conclusions.
Art, religion, humor, politics. It's all in the eye of the beholder, no? _________________ God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny. -- Garrison Keillor |

And then there's the one in South Australia of the Madonna making her appearance in a church. It looked like rising damp coming through the plasterwork to me, but it cettainly drew the crowds.
Sorry, I don't have time to search for links as I'm supposed to be packing for our camping trip, but if you do a search on 'Yankalilla' and something to do with apparitions, you should find it.
Bye all, I'm off into the wild blue yonder for a couple of weeks.
Stay well and happy _________________ Doing what you like is freedom
