Don't know the traditional salutation but I hope it's an exciting and wonderful day full of pride and recommitment to liberté, égalité et fraternité pour touts les français! _________________ God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny. -- Garrison Keillor |

| Break out the pastis and the rose! It's also my husband's b'day. Someday, we plan to spend it in Paris, but for today, it's the sunny backyard deck and a toast: bonne anniversaire! |

In Belden Alley, San Francisco Financial District - the celebration goes on until the wee hours of the morning. Cafe Bastille and Plouf restaurants are magnets for the French community and Francophiles. It is the next best thing if you are in San Francisco. At the Grand Cafe (Hotel Monaco) on Geary and Taylor, a couple of Can Can dancers come to entertain the celebrants. Are there big celebrations in other cities? Please share.

In case you'd like to have a listen or learn the lyrics (so you can sing loudly and bug your family) -
