ok...this won't take long...over the years I've thought of learning these ...I've dabbled, however as yet haven't kept to it...(perhaps you might like to share your "I've always been meaning to"s...)...or maybe you are a doer!!!!!!
am wondering what variety of things there will be
learn:
to speak French
to play the piano
to paint in watercolour _________________ "I've never accepted the external appearance of things as the whole truth. The world is much more elaborate than the nerves of our eye can tell us." - James Gleeson |

right off the top of my head, I can only think of one - will post more when I think of them.
The one -

Lovely lovely thread! Must think about this--
(By the way, EVERYBODY speaks French, plays piano, paints in watercolor.
They just don't do it very well.....)
I'd like to sing, like Rosemary Clooney--she had such a clear beautiful voice. Will reserve my other 2 choices, must think.

yep...gingerpale...I understand what you're saying!...perhaps I am asking myself to do a wee bit more than dabble....
rather like opera singing...I can hit some rather high notes..plus a bit of inbuilt drama...and ..well, with a costume or two...there I'd be....it's just that the notes are a wee bit wonky... ..there's something about 3! _________________ "I've never accepted the external appearance of things as the whole truth. OK Madame S., I have thunk up 2 more-- it would be nice to be able to perform one no-fail, absolutely amazing, and completely unexplainable card trick. Wouldn't that be a fun skill?
and #3-- I'd like the patience and perservance to have a proper garden, not just my usual fits-and-starts garden that dies alone in the backyard.
By the way, Madame-- I finally saw "Brokeback Mountain"--I knew the story already, but was not prepared for the beauty. Rich and I both gave it all stars available. The end scene with the parents!
Now back to this thread--it's 3 DO-ABLE things you'd like to do, not just 3 genie wishes, right? I would like to hear others responses--maybe they will inspire!

This is serious, putting all these "intentions" in writing.
First is to learn how to play the guitar that's been sitting quietly in the corner of my room for seven years. That's a happy one because I just signed up for lessons Monday! Christmas and camping trips will never be the same again...
Second, sing jazz in a night club, just once.
Third, learn how to surf. My hubby gave me a surfing lesson gift certificate for my b-day, so that may be on the horizon as well. |

These three things, but not in order of priority:
1. Serve as ambassador to a country that has really good food.
2. Write a book that someone publishes.
3. Become a major league baseball umpire. _________________ The goal is to fit it all in. |

There are far too many things I want to learn or do or experience.
The one thing I can think of, and it is the one thing I have wanted to learn ever since I was very little is;
.......french......fluently......(like you Madame )
So that I can converse with my dad and mum, in a language other than English, and so that I can meet my dad's side of the family and be able to converse with them as well.
But, I am in the process of learning and attending french lessons so hopefully my childhood dream is will soon be a reality |

KathyD...my sister is learning the banjo...she's loved it forever and ever! Is a wonderful pianist...loves music full stop...we go to the Byron Bay Blues Festival each year...and whenever there's a banjo player on the list...Marie's a goner!!!
she looks fabulous playing...the banjo is happy in her arms methinks _________________ "I've never accepted the external appearance of things as the whole truth. The world is much more elaborate than the nerves of our eye can tell us." - James Gleeson |
