I took note of this last summer but finally got around to trying it this year. http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/recipe_views/views/235485
It's a little fussy to make but it has very nice flavor and crunching on bits of toast in ice cream is certainly a surprise. I mean you can hear the person next to you hitting the morsels of toast! We had it with apple pie and they paired nicely too.
There's still some crunch the second day but I recommend serving it after it ripens a few hours from the ice cream churn for maximum effect. _________________ God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny. -- Garrison Keillor |

I just finished the last of this 4 days after I made it. At this point it's lost the silly charm of being crunchy but it's equally delicious. So I think the secret is to serve it as Cinnamon Toast ice cream for a few days and then switching to Bread Pudding ice cream at the strategic point. _________________ God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny. -- Garrison Keillor |
