Yes indeed Griffin--I have been known to join in the chorus----I do admit it does seem to put a damper on the celebrations! _________________ Vivant Linguae Mortuae!! |

Okay gang--this has gotten to the point of the ridiculous. We got 56 cms more snow over the weekend bringing this winter's total to 410 cm, that is over 13 feet! I have taken some more pictures and hope to add them to the other site. It's quite nuts really, I didn't leave the yard for 2 days and cannot get to the woodshed----and that birdbath?????? well I'm not sure where it is now. Can't see out most of the windows in the sunroom.

13 feet?! Good Lord, I remember when I was a kid (way back in '94) NY was hit with a Nor'easter and we got about 5 feet or so it seemed. Either way, my mom's answer to entertaining us was to let us sled off the roof of the attached garage!
Down here in Central Florida, we've had 4 or 5 tornado warnings/watches in the past week, depending on where you are. At least you know the snow is definitely coming (and when). |

13 feet! That's amazing. ...and none the less so since we are told to expect 80 degree F temps today (that would be almost 27 degrees C).
If these two things are possible I can't see why celery can't be a string instrument! But shall we play to Spring or Winter? _________________ God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny. -- Garrison Keillor |

David,
You're going to have to keep carrier eagles... just to do the shopping! Tho' you may have to hang onto a few small children for a while... at least until the snow melts!!! Just DON'T sing to them!!
Oh yeah... and what Donna said! You may need a duvet month. Either that, or it's tunnel your way out... and try not to hit the car/bird bath/brick wall/neighbour... or all of the aforementioned. _________________ Confusion comes fitted as standard. |

And on the other side of the world, we're having our 13th .... or is it 14th consecutive day of >35C heat.
Wanna swap for a while, David? _________________ Doing what you like is freedom

| There was a spot on the news a few days ago about Canadians & "snow rage". Folks getting persnickety about their neighbors' snow piles impinging! Must be pretty overwhelming. |

And here in Adelaide where we have fairly severe water restrictions, we all suffer from 'green lawn envy'. We're allowed to use fixed sprinklers for 3 hours a week on our gardens and lawns, which isn't really enough to keep much alive, and there's always the suspicion that anyone with a lawn that is still alive must be watering it illegally. _________________ Doing what you like is freedom

Crickey! It's a freaking blizzard outside again! Much like the snow sweetbabyjames was sweet enough to drive me around in when in Boston. Not for much longer though I can see the end in sight! Ah, snow rage----usually focussed on city employees who plough the road just when you've finished shovelling out your drive way thus filling the drive up again! Fortunately most people are still willing to help their neighbours around here and people with snow blowers are often happy to clear older and disabled neighbours walks for them. Now if Judy sent us 2 days of her Adelaidian (oh now that is a pretty word!!!) weather we'd have flooding on our hands! _________________ Vivant Linguae Mortuae!! |

Blizzard here too! (Salt Lake City, Utah)
But this snow comes on top of a few dinner-plate-sized patches of snow left in the almost-melted yard, not on top of the continent of snow at David's place.
David...do you have machinery to help you, or is it "Me and My Shovel, All Alone and Feelin' Blue"?
And Judy in the hellish heat--
these conditions mold a person! |

I think we are up to 15 days now Judy. Regarding water restrictions (which I have thankfully escaped courtesy of a dam) someone was saying the other day that it seems to rain a lot more on back lawns than it does at the front
We narrowly escaped a bushfire last week (saw flames and everything).
13 feet of snow is looking really good right now... |

And it's still hot, isn't it emilyj? Tom has his school athletics day on Thursday, and it will be cancelled if the forecast temperature is higher than 40C. But if it's 'only' 37, 38 or 39, the kids will all have to compete. Madness.
I think there's a cool change forecast for this afternoon or tomorrow. Bring it on!
Yep, I know just what you mean about green lawns. They really stand out, don't they? Whereabouts are you, to have been so close to a bushfire? I know there was one at Willunga, and Greg's parents watched it from their house at Aldinga Beach. We were worried about Greg's place, but it was a lot closer to Sth Rd than Greg's. You're somewhere north of the city, aren't you Emily? _________________ Doing what you like is freedom
