rachel24, welcome to C&Z...just you wait ..the cake! I've made it both on the day of need and the day before need...the latter I've found to be best...

But it's true madame!! Remeber a few years back we made new year's resolutions and mine was to make a cake from scratch because I had for some reason been intimidated by the whole concept! Well I fulfilled my resolution by making a series of bundt cakes, then the tragedy occurred and I more or less stopped cooking for a loooooooooooooong time. Happily the C & Z cookbook offered some lovely and simple cakes which, along with Clotilde's chocolate marvel have brought me back out of the cooking closet!!

I know I know..'tis me again..however I marvel at the alwaysness of the comments..

latest chapter..

I asked a friend to name the must have ingredient...in her cake I was to bake..chocolate...'n so of course..

we all sat at table...6 dear gal pals...'n there was some left ...'n one pal asked if she could have a slice for her husband..yep..that was ok..

this morning he told me it was the best chocolate cake he'd ever eaten..(spoken in the most wondrous Scottish accent!) ..I told him of cocolate&zucchini..told him I was going to let the readers know...he then added.."best, by far."

so there you go..

I'm a big fan if this chocolate cake also. I love that it is even better the day after making it. Great for entertaining if you make it the day before.

pastina...this here cake doesn't need anything..no filling..no topping...however if you add a little cream..berries..well now, that's fine and dandy..

agree with Barb...if made the day before needed...extra yummy..

we're in the middle of a heatwave of a day...only things like ice cold watermelon makes sense...forget the oven today I say...for me anyway...

Ok ladies and gents, sorry to bore on about this particular topic, but I need some advice please.

I've bought my chocolate for this - the 68% cocoa stuff. But before I start I have 2 questions:

1. Is it necessary to use a particular sugar for this - caster, granulated, raw cane?

2. I know it''s only one tbs of flour but what kind is it - plain or self-raising?

I want to get it right see Very Happy

I use caster sugar 'n sort of stir quite a bit so it's dissolved ...

'n plain flour..

Has anyone made this recipe ahead of time and frozen it?

I want to take the cake on a road trip (to a gathering of friends), but have to work right up until the last minute before leaving on the trip. It would be fantastic if I could make the cake this weekend. I am hoping that the cake will freeze adequately, and perhaps will be a little more stable in the car if it is in the frozen state.

Just curious if anyone has tried freezing it.
