do you know of the Earth Hour concept? it began last year in Sydney..the idea of turning off lights for an hour...

our house was in darkness....
have you seen photos from space...of Earth...with the massive glow of lights of the big cities at night...(those other moments of non-Earth Hours ) _________________ "I've never accepted the external appearance of things as the whole truth. Well, my city of Ottawa is going hog wild with earth hour! Just to be nice I'm going to unplug the window display lights when I leave work today, but I draw the line at turning out my house lights---since no one can see the place anyway! _________________ Vivant Linguae Mortuae!! |

We turned off our house lights for the hour. During that time we had dinner and played a little Scrabble by candlelight. It was fun!
There didn't appear to be wide participation here, but maybe it will catch on more next year. |

Madame, you are welcome to play Scrabble at our house anytime! But be warned...I have no shame in running a victory lap around the table, carrying a candle above my head!!
For some reason my spousal unit did not see the humor.
p.s. It helps to get a Q, U, and a blank tile poised exactly next to a Triple Word Score square! |

It's a nice concept I think. I was going to do Earth hour but then we had a power blackout from 9am that morning and the lights finally came back on just in time for Earth hour |
