I'm taking a daytrip to Ghent this coming Saturday and was wondering if anyone has any restaurant recommendations? Preferably Belgian - it would be such a shame to visit the home of waterzooi and not try it! - and either in the centre, or near the Museum of Fine Art.
Thanks in advance for your help! |

| Ghent was lovely - like a bigger, slightly less picturesque version of Bruges without the tourist crowds - and I was spoilt for choice in terms of restaurants! I had afternoon tea at Patisserie Bloch (which has a good selection of Belgian and Alsatian pastries) and ended up eating dinner at a little place called Neptune on the same square as the old fishmarket - a mainly local crowd, great waterzooi and an extensive beer list (I had one of the local brews, Gentse Tripel, which is delicious but VERY strong... 8%!). I'd definitely recommend both to anyone planning to visit Ghent. |
