1) My fiance and I will be in Paris during the middle of August (we didn't realize that most of France went on vacation then!). We are staying near the Louvre and are very excited, and we're looking for one GREAT restaurant in order to celebrate our anniversary AND my graduation from law school.

Any suggestions? I guess we're looking for what you could consider the epitome of a great French restaurant, and we're willing to splurge.

2) Clotilde mentions a restaurant in her reviews called Chez Gianni, Ferme-Auberge Le Castelas. I think it's located in Avignon, but am not sure. In any event, how would one get there from Paris (we don't mind the walk; we are avid hikers) because it sounds like somewhere I would very much like to visit.

Avignon is a long walk from Paris. You might think about Le Comptoir where Clotilde has posted pictures in her moblog (june 3) or check out Chez Pim's blog for her Paris restaurant reviews. It is in CnZ side bar. Congratulations and have a wonderful evening.
