Dear Simona, I agree with you completely about the nature of terrorism and the extreme difficulty of eradicating it. I agree that these people are outside civilization, and should be exterminated. I've always admired the way Israel fights terrorism: efficient, ruthless and exactly targeted. I do not believe that Osama bin Laden would still be alive today if he had attacked Israel the way he attacked the United States. My point is that we lost our focus in attacking Iraq, which was certainly a dispicable regime, but not the source of the terrorist attacks against us. History will judge whether this war ultimately helped or harmed the war against terrorism, but in the meantime, I'm going to shut my mouth and open it only to comment on food or drink. _________________ The goal is to fit it all in. |

Dear CB, thank you for your postand comments . I already thought my attitude and views on terrorism were an anomaly ( not that I mind voicing my opinions). So before I leave this post, I just wanted to mention that as far as I remember, the main reason invoked for the war against Irak, was the WMD ( weapons of Mass destruction). Saddam may not have been directly involved in the 9/11 attacks, but overall terrorism ( especially in my part of the world) were partially financed and openly encouraged by him( I agree that's not a reason for the US to send its troops there). The American people have the right to decide which wars they want to fight, and Bush is accountable towards his people. But I believe that America's firm belief in exterminating terrorism is the unifiying element between otherwise quite passive and complacent countries ( just wait until something happens in Paris..).
And now, like you, I'll go back to more non- controvertial subjects, such as the relative merits of olive oil vs. butter. I adore food, drink and travel, which I successfully enjoy between exploding buses and discoteques around me.
No more war, no more terrorism, anywhere! |

MS, they are beautiful, your words.
World war indeed, how right you are
Known and unknown soldiers, how very right you are
And may we all open our eyes wide and see what's beyond , as in your motto, MS
Thanks
