So, this is the superior French Cuisine??

Well, I'm back from Bordeaux, and I have shocking news to relate!
Number 1: cream from a spray can
Every single time we had any dessert, it came with cream out of a spray can, even the cream on one cappucino. (And the tarte au citron also sported bright red strawberry sauce which must have come straight out of a bottle.)
Number 2: dried herbs
Apart from some fresh parsley on top of the hummus at the Turkish restaurant, all the herbs sprinkled on to dishes were dried! This was even the case with a tomato, mozzarella & basil salad!!! When we queried this, I think the waiter said, that there was nothing wrong with dried basil...
(Pestoman - what's your French like? I think some lectures are needed...)

In a strange way, we found this quite amusing, coming so soon after Chirac's slander on British food!!!

C'est dommage! Hope this is not a trend...............
It seems such a fitting revenge to Chirac's insulting remarks! (Such a diplomat Jacques had been lately towards Poland, Great Britain and Finland.)

It's a real shame since I just got back recently from Strasbourg and Paris enjoying so many great meals highlighted by dinner at Buereheissel in Strasbourg set in the Parc de l'Orangerie and lunch at Ledoyen amidst the "marroniers" at the carre de Champs-Elysees. Everywhere we went in Paris served wonderful, memorable meals.

Hope you have not given up on french cuisine!!!!!!!!!!!

Quel horreur, indeed!!

And no, I haven't given up on French cuisine; in fact I enjoyed being in France so much (I hadn't been for at least 20 years ), I've persuaded my husband to go with the whole family in the summer holidays. Normandy, Brittany and further, depending how we feel and how we get on with the tent.
And I'm sure we'll have some memorable meals then.
