have just finished writing on a b'day card to send to a friend in Massachusetts ~ a waratah on the cover..how I love that flower..the floral emblem of the state of New South Wales..
I thought I'd share, what for me, is just about the bee's knees of waratah imagery:

plus, as a bonus:

methinks I might just take up residence in the gallery for a few months...Preston's work seems to strike a cord with me...my heart sings when I look at her work.
I look forward to some flora chat!
Am imagining waratahs all over the world ..in the snow, deserts, rainforests, swamps, hills 'n dales, cities, distant lands, on tables, on all tables, waratahs for all...am imagining...that's how much I love 'em. _________________ "I've never accepted the external appearance of things as the whole truth. That's an impressive woodcut!
The plant looks like it could be related to artichokes and thistles. Very lovely. Are the stem and foliage barbed? _________________ God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny. -- Garrison Keillor |

Madame,
Beautiful artwork! No wonder you'd want to spend time in the gallery. Waratah reminds me of the beautiful addition to some great floral arrangements.
Such a great way to start my cold foggy San Francisco morning. I have had to wear a coat the past several days.
Thanks for the the Watarah explanation and the enjoyable Margaret Preston websites.
