Le Thé Mariage Frères

Le Thé Mariage Frères

I could not agree more with Amy. Tea from Mariage Frères is one of those things that just make life a whole lot better. The beauty of the tins it comes in does nothing to hamper my feelings, nor does the beauty of the boxes the tins themselves come in!

And the names, indeed, the names! If you can’t make it out on the pic above, I have : “Thé sur le Nil” (fruity and lemony green tea), “Casablanca” (Morrocan mint and bergamot) and “Jasmin Mandarin” (sweet jasmine green tea). The last two I received as a gift from our friend Chacha on my last birthday…

I might add that they have a beautiful website. The English section unfortunately seems to be down today, but the French section does allow you to order their products and have them shipped anywhere (except to Japan, as they have an outlet in Tokyo). And also, there is a recipe section in there! Check out the “Prawn Salad with Tea on the Nile vinaigrette” recipe! And the “Earl Grey Madeleines”!

And while we’re on the subject of good French sources for tea, I am a great fan of the Palais des Thés as well. A more modern zen-like approach, but a very wide and high-quality selection nonetheless. And don’t even get me started on their tins.

Je suis comme Céline : j’adore aller jeter un coup d’oeil de temps en temps et voir que tu as mis qqc de nouveau. Même si les thés que tu décris ne sont pas vraiment “ma tasse de thé” !

Thank you for recommending this tea! I was so happy to see that there is a branch in Tokyo (where I live). I found the address on the web, and can’t wait to go try it out.

Jean – The Mariage Frères website (link included in the post) should be a good place to start…

The English version web site still does not work!!! Argh!!!

  • Julieane

The English version hasn’t been working for a long time. I have been a fan of this tea brand for 3 years and one of their best ones is the “Wedding Tea.” If you’re ever in Los Angeles http://www.boulela.com is probably the only pastry shop in the city that carries a wide variety of Mariage Freres tea. Angelenos don’t know what they’re missing!

I found it hard to find good information about mf teas so I made a site, new teas each week, let me know if you have a favorite mf tea and I will list it?

I’m new to Mariage Freres teas and just received a tin as a gift. Could you please provide brewing tips/instructions for the loose tea?
