..and, no doubt, one of the secret ingredients of the "French Paradox". Thanks for the great pics, Clotilde!

Yes.... my legs feel everyone of those steps... maybe that is why I am lazy and go to Blanche more than Pigalle....
I will try to think of it as a stairmaster and get off there more often now thanks to you!

Have you heard of a new theory as to why French women don't get fat? They have so many stairs to find! Thought you might appreciate it. Thanks for the pics.

Have you ever gone *up* the stairs from the Camden Town Station on the London Underground? Camden is one of a number of stations that were built with so-called deep-level air raid shelters beneath them. They really mean *deep*. ;) But I suppose Pigalle is bad enough, and Camden has these nice escalators...

Yes Damon, some of those underground stations are really far underground! We were on one (can't remember which one now) and coming up the escalator when I made the mistake of turning around and looking back at my husband who was below me.... bad move. I felt so sick and dizzy, and I normally do not suffer from vertigo or have a fear of heights.

Wow, this brings back memories of my recent 10 day trip to Paris around 2/18/05! My sister and I failed to take the elevator at Metro Abbesses and climed all those stairs...
thanks for the great pic and the wonderful site.
