the first time I was in this lovely little neighborhood, and saw the bust of Dalida, I started to laugh out loud.

Alisa - Why?
David - In Montmartre -- what you see in the background is the silhouette of the Sacré-Coeur!

Because of the contrast of the old, beautiful, tiny, almost secret feeling neighborhood, and this huge concrete head of a pop star!
There is this on going joke with some friends, that in every documentary about "another country" at sometime the words, "this is truly a land of contrasts" is uttered.
That was the moment of my day, that the line would have been used!

What I'd really like to see, and after all may see someday, this world being what it is, is a statue of Claude François in his bath tub. On the Place de la Concorde, for instance, at the foot of the Obélisque. What a nice contrast this would make !

Okay you guys--don't laugh. **Head** of a pop star. Does this not look more like the breasts of The Material Girl? Or did I miss something? I just had to throw this out there...

Dalida lived in a house on Place Dalida. She committed suicide in that house in 1987. She lived in Montmartre for a good number of years. Her career was over 30 years and she was huge in France and other parts of the world.
