February 2011 Desktop Calendar

February 2010 Desktop Calendar

At the beginning of every month, I am offering C&Z readers a new wallpaper to apply on the desktop of your computer, with a food-related picture and a calendar of the current month.

Our calendar for February is a picture of the multigrain bread I make with my sourdough starter Philémon. Read more about natural starter bread, and get the recipe for these crusty loaves.

Instructions to get your calendar are below!

Here’s how it works:

1- This link will open a new window (or tab) displaying the right wallpaper image for your screen.

2- Right-click (or ctrl-click for some Mac users) on the image, and chose the option that says, “Set as Desktop Background”, “Use as Desktop Picture,” or something to that effect — the exact wording will depend on the browser you use.

3- If the image does not fit your desktop background neatly, you may have to go to your preference screen (on a Mac: System Preferences > Desktop & Screen Saver > Desktop; on Windows: Control Panel > Display > Desktop) and choose “Fit to screen” as the display mode of your background image.

4- Enjoy!

[Note: Readers of this blog live all around the globe, and I am unable to provide localized versions of the desktop calendar at this point. This is why I've opted for the international standard, by which a large majority of countries abide, and which states that Monday is the first day of the week.]

Love this feature! One comment though…as a creature of habit, I don’t want to change the position of the icons on my desktop to fit around a calendar. I am happier with a design with the calendar in the middle or on the right. But, that is just me. Thanks for offering this!

Nice image, Clotilde! The bread looks good enough to try and make.

Thanks, everyone, I’m delighted you enjoy the calendars!

I just love the calendars, too! We’re getting hit with a huge snowstorm, and it was something to look forward to today. I teach school and sometimes my screen is up on my projector and the kids asked me about the dried lemons-they had never seen anything like it before! Of course, we live in central Wisconsin, and they pretty much only know about cheese. Thank you.

Thank you for these – I’ve been grabbing them for a few months and really like the images.
Due to your post on bread I sent off for and received some sourdough starter, so I have a new project to embark upon. Thanks for that one also.

I can’t believe it’s already time to replace the lemons. This photo is just as charming though. The fabric beneath the loaves is very pretty.

These really perk up my desktop… and make me hungry! I have to echo the comment from Just Fran, though– having the calendar at the left not only renders the calendar useless for me, it also makes it awfully hard to find/use the items on my desktop. In any case, thanks for another beautiful month!

The thing is, different people use different operating systems and use their desktop space differently. There is sadly no one-format-fits-all in this regard, so I just decide on the calendar placement depending on how the image is structured.

Really sorry to see the lemons go . . . I had been enjoying them . . . but I love the bread, too! Fran: I always look at a new calendar and new month as the perfect time to clean up my desktop anyway, so I never mind the changing location of it. In fact, if it were always in the same spot I wouldn’t have to clean up the desktop, and probably never would.

I like the way you think! :)

    Hello Clotilde,

    Nice image, nice calendar too!
Now there’s no reason for busy people to skip delicious food, it can be a reminder on their desktop! Great idea Clotilde, thanks for that, more soon?
